Short Break From Programming!!!

     Today was such a sigh of relief. When Mr. Arkin said we were doing an html assignment, I almost flipped out, from happiness. Well I guess I shouldn't be too happy because were doing programming after this assignment. But still, a short break from programming will do any computer science student good.

     Other than talking about the assignment, today in computer science class we learned some really neat features of Turing. For example, we learned an IDE feature, "ctrl+enter". We also learned a debugging mode of Turing that desk-checks for you on the computer. I think this is pretty neat. We also were told to make a modified version of repetition assignment 8. We were told to display the squares of the first 20 positive integers from the integers provided by the user. I was able to accomplish this easy task in class, without and problems.
Here is the code
var square_of_integer : int
var starting_integer : int
var ending_integer : int
var answer : string

% input section
loop
put "What is the starting integer? " ..
get starting_integer
put skip, "What is the ending integer? " ..
get ending_integer

% processing and output section

for variable : starting_integer .. ending_integer
    if variable mod 2 = 0 then
        square_of_integer := variable * variable
        put skip, variable, "**= ", square_of_integer
    end if
end for
put skip, "Would you like to continue? (yes or no) " ..
get answer
exit when answer = "no" or answer = "NO" or answer = "No"
end loop

     Pretty easy stuff. Today was also a special day for me and for grade 8s around the city. It was the day I received my 12th community hour :D from volunteering through the largest school group called the ambassadors. Tonight was an open house for all grade 8s and their parents to come and visit Victoria Park Collegiate Institute and learn about the IB program and about the school itself.

     Also tomorrow is a happy day for all high school students in the TDSB. NO SCHOOL!!! I would hope to enjoy this long weekend, and we are getting our midterms on Tuesday. Can't wait! Until next time fellow blog readers.
