Lather, Rinse, Repeat!
No, I am not talking about "lather, rinse, repeat" as in shampooing, I am talking about "lather, rinse, repeat" as in the infinite loop used in Repetition (a joke Mr. Arkin showed us in computer science class). Repetition is a new type of program control that we learned today in class. Repetition is defined as when some statements are repeated/executed more than once. This is done by using a loop, delimited by the keywords loop and end loop, to repeatedly present a prompt for a menu choice, exiting the loop only when a valid choice is obtained. I am really looking forward to making complex programs using repetition because I think it is very interesting.
Today in class, Mr. Arkin refreshed our brains with the keyword "delay". It is used to tell the computer to pause/delay for a given amount of milliseconds. Mr. Arkin showed us many programs about how repetition works, which I think was really good because it helped many students understand how repetition and the keywords loop and end loop works. We also learned about how putting the exit keyword is crucial to getting the right value. We learned also that the maximum integer value that can be held/stored in programming is 2147483647 and the minimum integer value that can be held/stored is -2147483647. I think this is really interesting because I thought it was infinite, which I now learned is not.
Today I am also very happy that it is Friday, but when it's weekend time, it's homework time... For computer science we have to do Repetition assignments 1 and 2, which I can literally do in my sleep because it is so easy. We also have to then modify assignment 2 so that the user can provide a starting value, not just an ending value. We also have to do this for the program Mr. Arkin gave us in class. Along with homework from computer science, I also have to do a science project and study for a math quiz on Monday. YAY! Thanks for reading my blog today.
EDIT: During the weekend I practiced using repetition, and made many interesting programs using repetition. I finished all my homework for computer science and printed it out. I attempted to do repetition assignment 3 but I did not understand it. I think the reason is that Mr. Arkin has not yet taught us yet about it. I am looking forward to learning about it on Monday. And I would like to go for extra help too just to clear up some concepts I did not understand about repetition.
